Pakse - The worlds shortest stopover

Caught the 15 hour bus from Vientiane to Pakse. Travelled with Carl, a UK guy met in Vientiane. We did not buy a ticket from the travel agents in town, just went straight to the bus station. Once we got there, we were surrounded by tour company touts offering us VIP bus tickets for less than standard tickets just so they could fill the bus. Once we were on board, we decided we couldnt actually tell the difference except that the outside of the bus was painted in a fantastic version of the turtle scene from Finding Nemo that the Disney animation artists would be proud of. We didnt see how this made it a VIP bus or cost nearly twice as much, which we were glad we didnt.

We met up with a British girl, Charlotte, in the seat in front of us who was also planning on staying in Pakse for 1 night to get to Champasak. We all caught a taxi into town from the bus station, had a coffee and something to eat, a quick walk around and a quick decision to get the hell out of Pakse. We caught the next taxi back to the bus station and the first bus to Champasak.

There, wasn't that a short and sweet read? Hmmm?
